SUMMARY:Time to make zines
DESCRIPTION:Take time to relax and get creative with this online zine making workshop.\n\n\nTake time to relax and get creative with a 1 and a half hour zine making workshop led by Hana Ayoob. We will be using a single sheet of paper to create a pamphlet exploring a topic of your choice. We will also take some time to explore the history and present of zines – small self-published magazines or pamphlets which are usually produced in small numbers for no or minimal profit.\nThis session is inspired by the Radical Nurses Group, which is featured in the “The Art of Nursing” exhibition. Founded in 1980 by a group of nurses determined to make improvements to their profession and their patients’ lives, they used printed materials with innovative designs to promote direct action and challenge perceptions of nurses as silent, respectable and apolitical.\nWhat you’ll need:\n\n1 sheet of plain A4 or A3 paper. This should ideally be white or a light plain colour, but we can also work with lined or gridded paper\nSome scrap paper\nA pair of\nscissors\nA pen or\npencil\nColouring pencils and felt tips\nCollage materials such as old magazines or leaflets, stickers\n\n \nHana Ayoob\nHana Ayoob is a freelance science communicator and artist. She’s passionate about bringing people together to explore and challenge the world around them.
