Join an evening of film and discussion exploring climate change and health at Central Saint Martins University to mark the launch of a special issue of It’s Freezing in LA! Hear from scientists, writers and artists and see a specially curated series of short films.
The theme of this issue covers climate and health covering topics such as waste regulation, alternative healthcare models, soil health, neuroscience and climate anxiety and anti-pollution activism. In this particular issue we’ve been working with the Wellcome Collection to commission five written pieces which will be released by Wellcome on their site and our publication.
For the event on 12th May, we’ll have four individuals on the panel: Abi Deivanayagam & Rhiannon Osborne from Medact will be co-hosting together, their worlds of medical climate justice will provide a fantastic foundation from which conversation can flourish. We have world renowned artist Michael Pinsky, an artist whose projects challenge the status quo on climate change, urban design and societal wellbeing. Our 4th Panelist is Alice Bell whose roots are firmly embedded within climate academia, technology and journalism.
The short films have been curated by Lilith Archive, a DIY film archive platforming women and non-binary filmmakers, and will cover the topic of toxicity covering exploitation of the land & body, medical issues and mental health.
And finally we’ll also be platforming a short publication run by CSM students on their Culture, Criticism and Curation BA course.
The event will start at 7pm with a keynote speech and will close at 10pm.
