UCL World Cancer Day Public Lecture

UCL World Cancer Day Public Lecture

Cancer vs. The Computer: How data science, AI and predictive modelling are reshaping cancer care.

To mark World Cancer Day 2026, our UCL panellists discuss some of the latest cancer research in their respective fields.

This special event will explore the rapidly evolving field of Computational Cancer. The discussion will highlight how data‑driven science, artificial intelligence and advanced mathematical modelling are transforming our understanding of cancer, improving diagnostic accuracy and accelerating the development of new therapies.

UCL’s distinctly multidisciplinary approach brings together experts across computational biology, oncology, engineering and data science and this event will showcase the innovative research taking place across the university. It’s an opportunity to hear directly from leading UCL researchers about how computational methods are reshaping the future of cancer care.

Panellists

  • Jasmin Fisher, Professor of Computational Biology, UCL Cancer Institute
  • Simon Walker-Samuel, Professor of Biophysics and Imaging, UCL Division of Medicine
  • Nicola Maciocia, Principal Clinical Research Fellow, UCL Cancer Institute
  • Catarina Isabel Correia Veloso Da Veiga, Associate Professor, UCL Department of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering
